last night Sam lost his belly button plug. while in the great scheme of things that really isn’t all that big of a deal, it’s just another step along the way that we were able to witness. this whole thing is pretty awesome. It’s been a great week so far. Sam is sleeping well, and he’s eating fairly well. we suspect he might have reflux though, so we’re going to talk to his pediatrician monday morning. apparently breach babies are at a higher risk for reflux, so hopefully we can get that cleared up and do something to ease his discomfort. he hasn’t been overly fussy or anything, but we can tell that he is constantly burping up a little bit in his throat and it does bother him a little bit.
yesterday we officially joined New Vision Baptist Church, so that was exciting. we’ve been attending there for the last 2 years and really love it. i play piano on tuesday nights for the college ministry as well as every other sunday morning for the main services. not only has it been a great musical outlet for me, considering i’m not playing regularly right now, but i have really missed being part of a church ministry. speaking of musical outlets, on the 25th i’m filling in on bass for one of my favorite local bands Young Professionals. i played with YP for several months when the band first started but wasn’t able to commit to a regular schedule due to my own nutty schedule, so i had to reluctantly move on. but i am very excited to get back up there with them and rock out, especially since we will be playing that show with Sleeptalker, mason’s new project.
here is a pic i took of heather and sam a couple of days ago, i think it turned out perty.

So wow. It will take me a little time to get used to the idea of having somewhere to post regularly, but man oh man do I have stuff to post about.
On Wednesday night, March 28 at 10:04pm Samuel Justin Mosley entered the world. He was about a week early, and we were ready for him. Heather was having contractions all day on the 28th but nothing too intense or regular, so we just kept an eye on it. At around 7pm we were sitting at Camino Real having some fajitas and Heather mentioned that we should probably start timing these because they seemed to be coming more frequently. The fajitas were quickly forgotten and we proceeded to spend the next hour sitting quietly and mentally logging contractions every 3 to 5 minutes. People probably felt bad for us, thinking we were having some serious relationship problems and just didn’t know what to say to each other. However, our brains were going a mile a minute, and they greatly accelerated every 3 to 5. So after an hour of regular contractions we thought it would be a good idea to go ahead on to the hospital and let them tell us whether or not this was the real deal. So we get to MTMC shortly after 8pm and go through the getting settled process, where they hook her up to the various contraptions to monitor her vitals and contractions, and it was like a switch got flipped. Almost immediately her contractions started to get a lot more intense. The nurse came in and checked her cervix, and she was concerned that she couldn’t feel Sam’s head. So the doctor on-call came in and did an ultrasound, where we discovered that he was complete breach, with both feet down and his head up. So after a whirlwind of 2 hours, I went with Heather into the operating room and got to hold her hand while they delivered our son via C-section. It was an amazing experience and everything went perfectly. It wasn’t exactly the way we expected it to happen, but sometimes that is for the best. We are both so thankful for the past 9 months and for our son, we honestly didn’t know it could be this good.
We are all home now, Heather, Sam, Mimi (heather’s mom) and myself, and we’re having a ball. I’m addicted to watching him everyday as he explores the new world and his place in it, whether it’s a sneeze or a cross-eyed scan around the room. I can not wait to have a conversation with him, but at the same time, I wouldn’t be horribly disappointed if he never grew another inch.

this is us closing on the sale of our townhouse in the hospital. the date had already been set and it was really great of the title company to come to us. now we just have to wait on the closing of our new house, another post for another time.
